This hobby began in 1989
when I decided to start purchasing
baseball cards
again after a 12 year layoff. I wanted to
concentrate
on one player. The reason for this was
because I
thought that it would be easier to collect
every card
of one player rather than trying to
complete sets.
Little did I know that in a few years this
notion of
obtaining every card of one player would
become
impossible. Anyway, I wanted a young
athlete so I
could follow his whole career. I came
across the
name Ken Griffey,
Jr. who
I had never even heard of.
I was just starting to get back into
baseball like I
was before, so even though "the
kid" was a hot
prospect since '87 his name was new to me.
Knowing
about his father's career I thought why
not choose
him. From that year on I was amazed at
how junior
kept doing fantastic things with his
career. I could
not have picked a better player and I have many
items from
his early years.
Now that JUNIOR'S career is over there are still hundreds of Griffey cards still being produced each year. So, The Collection continues even in retirement.Hi, I have
been
collecting Griffey,
Jr.
cards since his rookie year
1989. I currently have 3165 different
cards and over
5200 total. My collection also includes a
vast
assortment of other items such as
magazines, starting
lineups, plates, posters and basically anything
else I can
find with
junior on
it.
